Publisher: Random House
First Printed: 1964
Cover Art by Ed Vebell
Internal Illustrations by Harry Kane
Trade Edition First Printing Identification:
-- No list on the back cover
-- The title page of the First Printing of Stuttering Parrot simply
states "Illustrations by Ed Vebell." There is no reference to Harry Kane
(the actual illustrator - Ed Vebell was the cover artist) or the
author, Robert Arthur. These errors were corrected for the Second Printing of the
books.
Additional Trade Edition First Printing Characteristics:
-- Matte cover finish
-- Wrap-around cover art (see notes)
-- Blue graveyard/spiderweb endpapers (uncut)
-- Stitched binding
-- No inner list
-- No ISBN on the back cover
-- Copyright Page details: click
here
Notes:
-- Second Printings of Stuttering Parrot also had no title list on the back cover, but the errors on the title page were corrected, the endpapers were cut and the textblock was no longer stitched, but glued.
-- Early printings (at least the First and Second) of both the Trade and
GLB Editions of Stuttering Parrot had wrap-around cover art. For
unknown reasons, this was changed in very early 1966: the art on the front
and back covers remained the same, but the spine became solid yellow.
This change would remain through the end of both editions. Click
here for a comparison of the two spines.
